The report shows that the scale of online store book retail codes has grown rapidly, up 24.9% year-on-year, to a scale of 71.51 billion yuan; physical stores continue to show negative growth, down 4.24% year-on-year, to a scale of 30.76 billion yuan. In 2019, the number of new book varieties reached 194,000, a decrease of 6.70% compared to 2018; the price of books was on the rise, and the median price of new books rose from 40 yuan in 2018 to 45 yuan.
The industry analysis shows that the data reflects the general trend of reducing the quality of the publishing industry and pursuing high-quality development. At the same time, the scale of online store channels is constantly expanding. In 2016, the size of online store codes exceeded that of physical stores for the first time. By 2019, the online store code accounts for 70%, indicating that readers are increasingly inclined to buy books in online stores.
The report also released the annual total bestseller list, "Live" re-elected the top list, and the first annual bestseller in children's category is "Little Peas by the Window" (2018 edition).
